حذرت وزيرة الخارجية البريطانية إيفيت كوبر نظيرها الإيراني عباس عراقجي في مكالمة هاتفية من أي هجوم «مباشر على القواعد أو الأراضي أو المصالح البريطانية»، وفقاً لبيان صادر عن وزارة الخارجية اليوم (الجمعة).

تحذير بريطاني لإيران

جاء التحذير البريطاني رداً على بيان صادر عن الخارجية الإيرانية أفاد بأن عراقجي أبلغ كوبر خلال المكالمة الهاتفية أمس (الخميس) أنّ أي استخدام أمريكي للقواعد البريطانية سيُعتبر «مشاركة في العدوان» على الجمهورية الإسلامية.

وحسب بيان الخارجية البريطانية، قالت كوبر لعراقجي إنّ العمليات الدفاعية البريطانية في المنطقة كانت رداً على العدوان الإيراني ضد الشركاء في الخليج، مضيفة: «لقد أوضحت أنّ المملكة المتحدة تريد أن ترى حلاً سريعاً لهذا النزاع».

يذكر أن الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل بدأتا في 28 فبراير عملية عسكرية واسعة النطاق ضد إيران. وأوضح البيت الأبيض أن الهجوم جاء على خلفية ما وصفه بـ«تهديدات صاروخية ونووية صادرة عن إيران»، وأسفرت الضربات الأمريكية-الإسرائيلية عن مقتل عدد من قادة الصف الأول في إيران، أبرزهم المرشد الإيراني علي خامنئي.

خطة فعالة لحمايةالملاحة في هرمز

أذنت الحكومة البريطانية اليوم (الجمعة) للولايات المتحدة باستخدام قواعد عسكرية في بريطانيا لشن غارات على مواقع الصواريخ الإيرانية التي ⁠تستهدف السفن في مضيق هرمز. وأعلنت أنها تعمل مع شركائها الدوليين لوضع خطة فعالة لحماية الملاحة في مضيق هرمز، وحذرت من أن إقدام إيران على توسيع هجماتها ينذر بدفع المنطقة لمزيد من الأزمات.

وقالت الحكومة البريطانية في بيان إنها عقدت اجتماعاً بعد ظهر الجمعة لمناقشة آخر التطورات في الشرق الأوسط واستهداف إيران السفن التجارية غير المسلحة، والبنية التحتية المدنية بما فيها منشآت النفط والغاز، وإغلاقها مضيق هرمز. وندد أعضاء الحكومة بتوسيع إيران نطاق أهدافها لتشمل الملاحة الدولية، وأكدوا أن الضربات الإيرانية تنذر بدفع المنطقة إلى مزيد من الأزمات، وتفاقم الأثر الاقتصادي على المملكة المتحدة والعالم.

The British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper warned her Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in a phone call against any "direct attack on British bases, territory, or interests," according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office today (Friday).

The British warning came in response to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry indicating that Araghchi informed Cooper during the phone call yesterday (Thursday) that any U.S. use of British bases would be considered "participation in aggression" against the Islamic Republic.

According to the British Foreign Office statement, Cooper told Araghchi that British defensive operations in the region were a response to Iranian aggression against partners in the Gulf, adding: "I made it clear that the United Kingdom wants to see a swift resolution to this conflict."

It is noteworthy that the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Iran on February 28. The White House clarified that the attack came in response to what it described as "missile and nuclear threats emanating from Iran," and the U.S.-Israeli strikes resulted in the deaths of several top leaders in Iran, most notably Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The British government authorized the United States today (Friday) to use military bases in Britain to launch strikes on Iranian missile sites targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz. It announced that it is working with its international partners to develop an effective plan to protect navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that Iran's expansion of its attacks threatens to push the region into further crises. The British government stated in a release that it held a meeting on Friday afternoon to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, including Iran's targeting of unarmed commercial vessels, civilian infrastructure including oil and gas facilities, and its closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Government members condemned Iran's expansion of its targets to include international navigation, asserting that Iranian strikes threaten to push the region into further crises and exacerbate the economic impact on the United Kingdom and the world.
