نفى الأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية أحمد أبو الغيط بشكل قاطع أي لقاء أو علاقة له بالملياردير الأمريكي الراحل جيفري إبستين، مؤكداً أن اسمه ورد فقط ضمن قائمة مدعوين لحدث دبلوماسي لم يحضره أصلاً.

وكشف الإعلامي المصري أحمد موسى خلال برنامج «على مسؤوليتي» المذاع على قناة «صدى البلد»، أنه أجرى اتصالاً هاتفياً مباشراً مع أبو الغيط للوقوف على حقيقة ما تم تداوله خلال الساعات الماضية، بعد ورود اسمه في إحدى الصفحات التي نشرتها وزارة العدل الأمريكية ضمن ملايين الصفحات المتعلقة بقضية إبستين.

وأوضح موسى نقلاً عن أبو الغيط أن الاسم ظهر في سياق قائمة مدعوين لمنتدى دبلوماسي كان مقرراً عقده في جزيرة صير بني ياس بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة عام 2010، ضم نحو 10 وزراء خارجية عرب، في الفترة التي كان يشغل فيها أبو الغيط منصب وزير الخارجية المصري.

وأكد أبو الغيط -بحسب ما نقله موسى- أنه لم يحضر هذا المنتدى من الأساس، وأنه لم يسافر إلى الإمارات في ذلك التوقيت لهذا الغرض، وبالتالي لم يلتقِ جيفري إبستين مطلقاً، ولا توجد أي صورة أو دليل مادي يجمعهما.

وأضاف أن إبستين حصل على قائمة المدعوين الرسمية للحدث الدبلوماسي وأعاد توزيعها أو إرسالها إلى بعض معارفه، في محاولة للإيحاء بامتلاكه علاقات واسعة ونفوذاً مع مسؤولين عرب ودوليين، وهو أسلوب كان يتبعه في بعض مراسلاته المعروفة.

وشدد أحمد موسى على أن ما يتم تداوله حالياً يفتقر إلى الدقة، وأن الحديث يدور عن قائمة دعوات وليس عن لقاء شخصي أو علاقة مباشرة. كما انتقد محاولات البعض استغلال هذا الأمر بشكل سلبي ضد أبو الغيط، مشيراً إلى أنه شخصية دبلوماسية مخضرمة ظلت على مدار عقود ملتزمة بمواقف وطنية ثابتة في الدفاع عن مصر ومصالحها.

وتجدد الجدل بعد إفراج وزارة العدل الأمريكية أخيراً عن دفعة كبيرة من الوثائق والصفحات المرتبطة بتحقيقات قضية جيفري إبستين، شملت ملايين الصفحات من المراسلات والقوائم والسجلات.

وورد اسم أحمد أبو الغيط -إلى جانب عدد من الشخصيات العربية والدولية- ضمن قائمة أسماء تمت دعوتها لحدث دبلوماسي في الإمارات عام 2010، واقتصرت الإشارة على كونه ضمن المدعوين الرسميين، دون أي دليل على حضوره أو وجوده في المكان أو أي لقاء شخصي مع إبستين.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, categorically denied any meeting or relationship with the late American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, confirming that his name appeared only on a guest list for a diplomatic event that he did not attend at all.

The Egyptian journalist Ahmed Moussa revealed during the program "On My Responsibility," broadcast on "Sada El Balad" channel, that he made a direct phone call to Aboul Gheit to clarify the truth of what has been circulating in recent hours, after his name appeared in one of the pages published by the U.S. Department of Justice among millions of pages related to the Epstein case.

Moussa explained, quoting Aboul Gheit, that the name appeared in the context of a guest list for a diplomatic forum that was scheduled to be held on Sir Bani Yas Island in the United Arab Emirates in 2010, which included about 10 Arab foreign ministers, during the period when Aboul Gheit held the position of Egyptian Foreign Minister.

Aboul Gheit confirmed - according to what Moussa conveyed - that he did not attend this forum at all, and that he did not travel to the UAE at that time for this purpose, and thus he never met Jeffrey Epstein, nor is there any photo or material evidence linking them.

He added that Epstein obtained the official guest list for the diplomatic event and redistributed or sent it to some of his acquaintances, in an attempt to imply that he had extensive connections and influence with Arab and international officials, which was a tactic he followed in some of his known correspondences.

Ahmed Moussa emphasized that what is currently being circulated lacks accuracy, and that the discussion revolves around a list of invitations rather than a personal meeting or direct relationship. He also criticized attempts by some to exploit this matter negatively against Aboul Gheit, pointing out that he is a seasoned diplomatic figure who has remained committed to steadfast national positions in defense of Egypt and its interests for decades.

The controversy renewed after the U.S. Department of Justice recently released a large batch of documents and pages related to the investigations of the Jeffrey Epstein case, which included millions of pages of correspondence, lists, and records.

Ahmed Aboul Gheit's name - along with several Arab and international figures - appeared on a list of names invited to a diplomatic event in the UAE in 2010, with the reference limited to him being among the official invitees, without any evidence of his attendance or presence at the location or any personal meeting with Epstein.
